Pascali – Leoncillo, Two Artists Face-to-Face

promoted by the City of Spoleto
in collaboration with
Sovrintendenza alla Galleria Nazionale di Arte Moderna of Rome
edited by Livia Velani, Marco Tonelli
devised by Giovanni Carandente
The noble floor of Palazzo Collicola hosts the exhibitions of two sculptors, Pino Pascali and Leoncillo Leonardi.
The works come from the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna of Rome and from private collections. The exhibition wants to compare two artists – both passed away in 1968 and with strange analogies – coming from two different generations and with two different styles. Leoncillo Leonardi, from Spoleto, defined by Cesare Brandi the third Italian sculptor of the 20th century is defined through his last informal period, after an intense neo-cubist period. Pascali, on the other hand, was the head of Poor Art and perhaps the most innovative artist of his genre.
