| “Association Paolo Ettorre – Socially Correct” and Spoleto 52 Festival of the Two Worlds with the patronage of MIBAC Ministry for Arts and Cultural Heritage SIAE Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori (Italian Copyright Association) COPYRIGHT IS A RIGHT 2009 SOCIALLY CORRECT CONTEST The Association “Paolo Ettorre – Socially Correct” in collaboration with the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi and the patronage of the Ministry for Arts and Cultural Heritage and of the SIAE – in continuity with the 2008 edition – promotes an advertising contest to assign a scholarship on a specific theme of social relevance. The Association was founded in memory of Paolo Ettorre who throughout his career distinguished himself for his social commitment, promoting a great deal of campaigns on fundamental themes for society. The contest is open to Italian and European students living in Italy enrolled in University, public or private schools, professional courses, or post-university communication specializing courses. Each “creative couple” winner of the contest will have the opportunity to attend an unpaid stage in the roles of Art Director and Copywriter at the creative Agency Saatchi & Saatchi in one of its offices in Rome or Milan. The social campaign challenging this year’s participants deals with a topical theme: copyright. “Copyright is a Right” is the title of this contest and of the social campaign theme aiming at awakening the audience on the need to protect the “originality” of an artwork and preserve copyright. The need to assure an adequate protection of copyrights is more and more indispensable today especially due to the increased development of the society of information. The works of art protected by copyright are always more launched online and exchanged free from the control of unaware authors. This reality is nourished by web surfers’ mentality that amplify the phenomenon of piracy through illegal “file sharing” and downloading. In Europe as in Italy there is and has been the urge to find a balance between the implementation of copyright safeguard methods and the respect of fundamental rights of web users and citizens. In order to contrast offline and online piracy often the community legislator, and the domestic one too, has asserted the necessity of siding normative means with complementary ones, such as the promotion and registration of behavioral and self-regulated rules among the economical-industrial operators involved in the diffusion of digital contents and the launching of communication and sensitization campaigns on the negative effects of piracy dedicated to citizens and users. The objective of the communication project 2009 Socially Correct Contest is precisely to sensitize the public opinion and particularly the younger generation. The communication campaign should help develop a “culture” of original art work – a precious heritage with special value because unique, unrepeatable and therefore “precious”. The campaign should mainly address teen-agers with an adequate tone and language speaking to them, simple, direct, and effective and will be produced by the Socially Correct Association, presented with the support of institutional sponsors on media, press, and web. The presentation of the winning project takes place on occasion of the Copynight concert on July 10th at the prestigious Teatro Romano arena. | COPYNIGHT – Author’s Evening A concert dedicated to the safeguard of author’s rights Artistic Direction Caterina Caselli Sugar Idea Associazione “Paolo Ettorre - Socially Correct” e Saatchi & Saatchi Guests Gino Paoli Malika Ayane Caparezza Chiara Civello Lucariello Pacifico Paola Turci Narrator Matteo Bordone with the participation of Vittorio Cosma Directed by Renzo Martinelli Video: Giuseppe Ragazzini Organisation Enrico Pighi Production Spoleto 52 Festival dei Due Mondi The evening hosts some of the most talented Italian musicians, such as Malika Ayane, Caparezza, Chiara Civello, Lucariello, Pacifico and Paola Turci, alternated with the narrating voices of three great communicators Matteo Bordone, Vittorio Cosma and Aldo Nove.
