It talks about the desire for freedom and the assertion of truth which is a prerequisite. Through a dive into history, and identifying with the great Chinese explorer Zheng He, the protagonist of the play realizes that "true life is elsewhere." For Kuo Pao Kun this is a way to get round the censorship in force in his country and to make us understand what could not have been said, being a citizen of Singapore.
The tradition of the Japanese puppet theatre, which was handed down by the Youkiza theatre 375 years ago, allows a visionary theatrical approach, where the invisible worlds come true, making ghosts appear on stage.
This show is an invitation to look at the world across the portrayal given by the Asian world, according to which Europe is relegated in the upper left-hand corner on the world map, where we usually place Alaska.
