| Prophetically inspired, Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) states that “the time will come when the living realise that they are represented, described and identified by my music and understand that my music has been in them since time immemorial”.
With this insight in mind, Massimiliano Finazzer Flory’s performance - with Quirino Principe’s participation - goes over the composer’s biography through the corpus of the letters and other writings highlighting the themes of eros, of death, of religion, of the Vienna and the Mittel-European crisis, of the relationship between the music and the philosophy of that time.
This original anthology develops through atmospheres and evocative musical pieces from the symphonies No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and is accompanied by projection of images of paintings by Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka to relive the history of Vienna and of Mitteleuropa in one of the most crucial and complex periods of the dawning modernity.
